What entry door colours suit modern Vancouver houses?

A muted navy front door caught my attention recently because it looked beautiful against white siding and black window frames. That combination made me reconsider the charcoal finish I'd originally planned for our house. Vancouver's cloudy weather changes how darker colours appear, so I'm trying to compare samples outside rather than relying on online photographs. Deep green is another option that looks particularly attractive with nearby plants. What colours would you recommend for a modern home if the goal is something distinctive but not overly bright?

Deep green can be surprisingly versatile on contemporary houses. Our exterior is mostly pale grey, and the green door adds warmth while still working with the black metal accents. We compared it with navy and charcoal before making the decision, and the natural landscaping around the entrance helped the green feel right. Another useful detail was viewing the samples in shade, since the porch doesn't receive direct sunlight all day. I'd recommend choosing a colour that looks balanced in your normal lighting conditions rather than following whichever shade happens to be popular.

Choosing a front door colour became more interesting once we noticed how differently the same finish looked throughout the day. Pure black felt too severe against our light exterior, while a softer graphite shade complemented the window frames. My partner also liked forest green, so we tested both options beside the porch. Since the existing door needed a new frame, we decided to complete the replacement before the rainy winter months. Reliable door Vancouver ahead of pre-winter. Graphite eventually won because it looked balanced in both bright and overcast conditions. We added brushed metal hardware and kept the trim white. The colour gives the entrance a modern appearance without making the house feel cold, and the new door fits the surrounding architecture much better.
